Team Kolar Elite / Trap

TJ Main

I started trapshooting in the FFA program at our local high school at the age of 17.  My first registered shoot was in 1997 ( I was 21).  I scraped, bartered, and worked hard for my shells and entry fees.  I was lucky enough to have the support and direction from those who paved the path ahead of me- carving out the value of each generation before me.  It became clear to me that trap shooting was the one sport that encompassed all walks of life and the knowledge that they gleaned over the years- was invaluable and always welcome.

I am 46 years old- and I am lucky enough to share my love of trap with my wife- Tina,  our 5 children, and 2 grandchildren.  Tina and I started traveling across country due to the lack of registered shoots in the Pacific Northwest after COVID hit.  We spend a lot of our time doing outreach and promoting trapshooting in Washington, Idaho, Utah, and Oregon- where we have seen the numbers decline over time.  It has always been our goal to be ambassadors to the sport- because of the value of community, safety, innovation, service, respect, integrity, and the perseverance that trap shooting imparts.  These characteristics are ingrained in my belief system and are reflected in all parts of my life.  I am a Lineman for Grant County Utility District and my commitment to our community as a first responder reflects those values as well.
